A Cebu-based independent film became the big winner at the Gawad Urian on Tuesday, May 13, taking a total of four awards, including Best Picture.
“Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria” also bagged the awards for Best Director (Remton Siega Zuasola), Best Music (Jerrold Tarog), and Best Cinematography (Christian Linaban).
The film previously won the “Jury Prize” and “Best Musical Score” in the 2010 Cinema One Originals and “”Best Picture” in Southeast Asian Category in Cinemanila 2010. The film is about an island girl named Terya who is set to leave her hometown to marry a foreigner.
Zuasola thanked his family, cast and crew for helping him in “”Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria.” “I still can’t believe na totoo ang lahat ng ito. Sa init, sa ulan, sinisikap ng cast and crew ko, napakahirap ng pelikulang ito. Thank you sa mga manunuri, sa Cinema One, sa cast and crew sa pagtyatyaga ninyo sa akin” Zuasola said who was crying while accepting his award.
